Kobee's Story:

From the time he could walk, Kobee’s passion for basketball and his fierce competitive spirit shined in everything he did. The gym was his second home, and his love for the game was unmistakable. But just five days after finishing his junior season at the State B Basketball Tournament in Aberdeen, SD, Kobee and his family received news no one is ever prepared to hear: he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer.

Even in the face of such devastating news, Kobee’s strength never wavered. He faced every treatment, every setback, and every unknown with remarkable courage, anchored by an unshakable faith and trust in the Lord. That faith carried him through the hardest moments of his journey until November 5th, 2025. The day he was called home.

During his time at Sanford Children’s Hospital, Kobee’s heart opened even wider. Surrounded by other children fighting their own battles, he saw not just illness but incredible bravery, and he felt deeply moved by their struggles. It was there that his desire to make a difference took root, a calling to bring hope, comfort, and support to kids walking the same difficult road he knew all too well.

Inspired by his desire to help others and his lifelong love for basketball, Kobee founded the Midwest Miracles Foundation in 2024. This faith-based organization is dedicated to supporting children and families navigating their own pediatric cancer journeys. Driven by gratitude for the incredible support he received during his fight, Kobee created the foundation as a way to give back to the communities that stood by him when he needed it most. He is committed to using the funds raised to help families in whatever way they need, whether easing financial burdens, covering travel or medical costs, or simply bringing comfort during a difficult time.

Each year, the Midwest Miracles Foundation hosts the Midwest Miracles Classic, a powerful weekend of basketball that unites competitive teams from across the region and fills the gym with an inspiring, supportive crowd. Kobee dreamed of creating this classic because he loved the thrill of true competition and the honor of playing on a bigger stage. He wanted other student-athletes to feel that same excitement and pride, only this time, to play with purpose, to play for hope, and to play for something bigger than the game itself.
